Let me begin by stating that if you are looking for a light, breezy Summer read, this book is NOT it. Having said that, I feel that Unwanted Truths is a title that deserves a place of honor on your "TBR" (to-be-read) list. The storyline touches on a number of subjects that may be considered difficult, including adoption, cancer, marital affairs, attempted suicide, and death. Ms. Haddon approaches these elements from the characters' points-of-view with a sense of honest realism. I think the reader is able to understand the emotions behind the actions as the plot develops. |
When I reached the last page of the novel (keeping in mind that I read the e-book format), I kept flicking my screen in an attempt to turn to the next page. There wasn't one! The story comes to a rather abrupt ending. At first I was stunned. I needed more! However, after a moment of reflection, I realized that it really could not have ended differently. I thoroughly enjoyed Unwanted Truths and would be delighted to recommend it. ★★★★
