There are things that most small towns have in common: colorful characters, a pride in history and heritage, a close-knit community (often somewhat religious), and unfortunately at times the ability to overlook the destitute. There are always charity events and donation drives, but even then sometimes things -- possibly even entire families -- slip through the crack. Such seems to be the case in the little town of Merilu, Alabama. Left on their own to deal with their mother's illness, three sisters meet their share of unique people during some "Thelma and Louise" type adventures. |
